Have you read The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess? Maybe you remember the first page: “The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play.” Well, today where I live, it’s raining and gloomy! So, here are some ideas that my kids have had to make rainy days more fun…
Build a tent. You can use blankets and sheets and hang them over chairs. Fill your tent with cozy pillows and stuffed animals and put up a sign that says “Kids Only”!
Put on some music and do crazy dancing! (Or play “freeze dance” if there are 3 or more of you!)
Paint “kindness rocks.” These are rocks that you paint and leave outside (or in a store or library) for someone else to pick up. Then, if they want, they can paint their own rocks and leave them outside for you to find!
Race! See who is fastest in your house — time (count or ask a grownup to help) how fast each person can run down the hall or across a room. Or race toy cars and see which one is fastest!
Make stuff! Are there any old boxes or jars or round containers around your home? If so, paint them or cover them with fancy tape or old wrapping paper. You could make a box for your treasures or a cool can to put all your crayons in!
